Fun Facts

  • Was originally opened as the Ramada Beach Resort
  • In the 1970’s and 1980’s the Ramada was popular with the Spring Break crowd.
  • The resort had a 6th floor night club called Nero’s Nook which had a Roman theme and was very lively! There was also another lounge, 3 restaurants, and The Grotto pool bar which was at the large rock formation and waterfall in the pool area. At The Grotto one could either sit at the bar or swim up to it.
  • After major hurricane damage in 2004 the resort underwent an extensive renovation.
  • In 2018 the resort was completely revamped and became The Island Resort.
