  • The resort was one of the two original resorts on Disney property when it opened in 1971.
  • The resort was originally planned as the Tempo Bay Hotel, but was changed to the Contemporary Resort emphasizing it’s cutting edge theme.
  • The guest rooms were built as individual modules complete with furnishings and fixtures. They were then inserted into place within the structure of the building.
