• It was originally developed as a tennis club and condominium in the early 1970’s. It was revitalized as a tennis focused resort in 1978 called Vistana Vacation Villas & Tennis Resort
• In 1980 the resort was converted to a timeshare resort
• The resort became affiliated with Starwood Resorts in 2000 becoming the Sheraton Vistana Resort. Starwood merged with Marriott in later years.
• Vistana was the first timeshare resort in the Orlando area.
• The resort had 98 units in 1980. It has expanded in phases over the years. It now has over 1,600 units.
